Lions Club Hears About Lumberjack Soccer

Left to Right:  Gregg Reep, Rusty Densmore, and Lions Club President Brandon Gorman
The speaker for the February, 24th Warren Lions Club program was Lumberjack boys soccer coach Rusty Densmore.  Girls coach Steven Quoss had planned to be present but was unable to attend due to a family illness.  Coach Densmore talked about both the boys and girls programs.

According to Mr. Densmore, the Lumberjack soccer program begin in 2011.  Since that time both boys and girls have done well.  The boys have made the playoffs every year and in 2015, won the conference.  He expects both teams to compete at a high level in 2016.

Currently the boys have 28 players and the girls have 26.  Coach Densmore reported that we have a Warren soccer club for ages 4-18 and over 130 kids are involved.  He indicated the program is being implemented in cooperation with the Donald W. Reynolds YMCA of Warren and Bradley County.

Soccer games are played at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium and a new field is under construction on Axley Field.  The new facility is a joint venture between the Warren School District and the City of Warren.  Coach Densmore believes the future of soccer is bright in Warren and the program complements the school's highly successful football program as several football players are also taking part in soccer.
